What is a museum?

a museum is a place that allows the younger generation to understand their own's culture better and also to let locals or tourists to understand the culture better. A museum is a place that preseve the different history, culture and artifacts from the past.Other than that, it gathers evidence from the past and put it together as a true facts rather than make-believe or myths.

Why is the exhibit i'm working on placed in the museum?

As the traditional peranakan wedding is disappearing in this society due to modernisation, the museum which holds the exhibit helps to keep the culture alive. Visitors are able to see the whole traditional peranakan wedding in the museum. Peranakan wedding can be mixed up with other cultures such as the malay & the chinese weddings since all three of them have similarities in their weddings.Through small details in the peranakan wedding, it potrays the peranakan beliefs in their society rather than being confused by the malay and chinese culture due to their similarities.

Why is the interactive installation propopsed in the museum?
can your exhibit be placed in the museum or anywhere else? why?

an interactive installation creates an experience which helps the visitors to learn and absorb the different informations better. as the impression of the installation is much deeper, the users will be able to remember the details and information better then a whole block of text for them to read. a successful interactive installation not only allows to user to interact with the installation, but also to other visitors of the museum.

our exhibit can be placed in the museum as it is related to the peranakan's culture, their wedding. however, our exhibit can also be placed in other museum which is exhibiting about the peranakan's culture.

What data can you obtain from the visitors/surrounding and how can the data be used as a part of an interaction?

Gender,occupation,race,age & their reaction to the museum. the above information collected can be used as resources on the gender, age group and occupation of visitors. feedback of the application i.e. if the application is confusing or is it easy to use. the data collected can be used in designing the refinement of the installation.
