Interim Presentation

our first interim presentation took place today at LT-M1. we had first started of with the MG's podcast,followed by our objectives, values, research and interactivity.

our group's objective is to encourage play and let the users gain experiences through the exhibits. and also, to let them learn about the peranakan's culture in a more interesting way.


Our Goals is to let the users be able to bring back a great experience, have fun and learn the peranakan's culture through the exhibits.


our research presentation consisted of the matchmaking, Lap Chai, Sang Ee, preparation days and the wedding eve.

An overview of the exhibit

at the center of the exhibit, will be where the 2 portraits, and the sireh box be at. when a person is to enter the room, a ray of light, will e projected on the sireh box, indicating to the user that he or she should touch the box. upon opening the box, a projection of the different spices used for making sireh will be projected from the top of the on the wall. the users will also be able to pick up and try to smell the spices.

after the ending of the sireh activity, the video portrait will start playing. the video will be about a father and mother, discusing about their daughter's wedding.

another interaction will be the Chiu Thau process. should the motion sensor detect any visitor/s walking by, they will be prompt to touch the comb. When the visitor touches the comb, a projection of the user will be shown on a mirror, but with the bride sitting in front of the visitor. the bride will then ask the user to help her in the chiu thau process by holding the comb and using gestures. after the process, the delighted bride, will explain the purpose of the whole process which the user had just performed.



this section requires a page boy to be present and do some activity too, if there's no one to take this role, the page boy's role will be controlled by the system.






When the motion sensors detect that a visitor is near by the window, noises can be heard by the users. when the user open the window, they will be able to view a video on the onion peeling day, which is a day, relatives gather together to peel onion for the wedding's use.

and on the right side of the wall, will be a projection for users to play catch the motifs game. users are required to catch all the motifs in the same color as the net they are using. the first to be ble to collect all the motifs will be rewarded with stickers of motif.

before the start of the game, the significant of each motif are shown. users can choose if they want to skip the introduction or watch the introduciton.
